Various cookies are often served as desserts with coffee. But what to do if you’re not a fan of sweet treats? For such occasions, we have savoury biscuits that won’t go amiss on any table at a celebration or when you’re looking for some savoury crunch for TV time. The preparation is incredibly simple, so anyone can manage it.
Ingredients:
- 220 g spelt flour
- 90 g ghee
- 10 g dried onion
- 1 tsp baking powder
- salt to taste
- mix of spices and seeds according to your preference: black sesame, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic powder, etc.

Method:
Start by mixing all the dry ingredients, i.e. flour, dried onion, baking powder, salt and the spice and seed mix (keep some for sprinkling at the end).
Next, add melted ghee and knead the dough. Once it’s combined, let it rest in the fridge for 30–60 minutes.
After chilling, shape the dough into a roll and cut it into 12 pieces. Using your hands, flatten each piece into discs about 0.5 cm thick. You can press them down further with a fork on the surface. If you prefer square or stick-shaped biscuits, roll out the dough to a thickness of half a centimetre and cut it into the desired shapes with a knife.
Place the prepared biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, sprinkle with the remaining spice and seed mix to taste, and bake at 180°C for about 15–20 minutes.
Once done, let them cool slightly before serving.
