Fitness Recipe: Shepherd’s Pie

You don’t only have to make meatloaf or Bolognese sauce from minced meat. Let’s try something different and dig into a delicacy called Shepherd’s Pie. It’s a tomato-flavoured meat mixture that’s topped with mashed potatoes and then baked. The result is a delicious lunch that will drive away your hunger and satisfy any foodie.

Method:

Peel the potatoes and cut them into smaller pieces so that they cook faster in the salted water. Drain them and mash them with milk. If you want to make it smoother, use a whisk or an immersion blender. Next, spray a heated frying pan with oil spray, and fry the finely chopped onion in it. Add the meat and sauté until it loses its pink colour. Next, add the ketchup and the zucchini cut into smaller pieces. Season with salt and spices and cover with water. Let them simmer together for about fifteen minutes.

Prepare three small baking dishes (if you don’t have them, take a larger one). Divide all the meat mixture into them.

Spoon the mashed potatoes evenly over the top. Place the baking dishes in a preheated oven to 180°C and bake for thirty minutes. Then garnish with a sprig of thyme and serve immediately.
