Crispy sesame tofu in sweet and sour sauce is the perfect way to enjoy a nutritionally rich plant-based lunch. By preparing it in an air fryer, you achieve the perfect texture in just a few minutes while providing your body with a solid serving of protein and healthy fats.
We will need:
- 400 g plain tofu
- 50 ml maple syrup
- 50 ml water
- 40 ml coconut aminos
- 20 g white sesame seeds
- 15 g cornstarch
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- canola oil spray
- a pinch of salt

Instructions:
Start by preparing the base. Unpack the tofu, dry it with paper towels, and use your fingers to break it into larger cubes. Spray it with oil spray, season with salt, and bake in the air fryer for 20 minutes at 200°C. During frying, turn the individual pieces (simply shaking the basket is enough).
Meanwhile, gently simmer the maple syrup with coconut aminos, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and sesame oil in a pan. Mix the cornstarch with water, pour it into the sauce, and let it thicken while stirring continuously. Next, add the sesame seeds and the roasted tofu, and mix everything thoroughly together.

Season to taste if needed. Serve the prepared tofu with rice and spring onions.
