Krill oil is derived from small sea crustaceans and contains two of the same fatty acids as fish oil. These are EPA and DHA in the form of phospholipids, which are better absorbed by the body, so less krill oil is needed to provide your body with the same effects as fish oil. The effects include cardiovascular effects and proper heart function. The capsules are also enriched with the aqueous carotenoid Astaxanthin.
Krill oil - contains omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA and natural carotenoid Astaxanthin to support the cardiovascular system
Krill oil is obtained from small sea crustaceans called krill. It contains a mixture of omega-3 fatty acids with a high content of EPA and DHA in the form of phospholipids. This results in their higher biological value and better absorption. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contribute to proper heart function, and DHA also promotes brain function and good eyesight.
Krill oil also contains the marine carotenoid astaxanthin. It is a red pigment found in, for example, salmon or krill, and is structurally similar to beta-carotene (pro-vitamin A). Its effects on eye and skin health and the reduction of oxidative stress are currently the subject of research.
