Protein Fusion is a multi-source protein that combines 4 high-quality milk protein sources with different absorption rates. Whey protein hydrolysate, isolate and concentrate provide a rapid supply of amino acids, while slower-digesting calcium caseinate ensures a more sustained supply. This means the body receives amino acids both immediately after consumption and gradually over the following hours. The protein is also enriched with the DigeZyme® enzyme complex and the LactoSpore® bacterial strain. The result is a comprehensive protein blend suitable not only immediately after training, but also between meals or as an addition to food.

Protein Fusion is a multi-ingredient protein blend with four protein sources, DigeZyme® enzymes and LactoSpore®.

Not all protein is absorbed at the same rate, and that is important to know. Protein Fusion by GymBeam deliberately combines fast- and slower-digesting protein sources, helping to supply your muscles with amino acids both immediately after physical activity and for a further 4 hours. It is based on a carefully selected complex of 4 milk proteins with a high biological value, which make up 87–95% of the formula, depending on the flavour. You will not find any cheap soy or other plant protein in it. We have also added the DigeZyme® enzyme complex and the bacterial culture Bacillus coagulans LactoSpore®. The result is more than just another ordinary protein powder: it is a thoughtfully formulated supplement to support your sport and fitness goals, whatever they may be.

Protein Fusion contains 74–77 g of protein per 100 g of product, depending on the flavour you choose. A single 30 g serving therefore provides 22.2–23.1 g of protein, including 5.2 g of BCAAs, of which 2.4 g is leucine.

Why does Protein Fusion contain 4 protein sources?

Whey protein on its own, whether concentrate, isolate or even hydrolysate, raises blood amino acid levels rapidly and sharply, but only for a relatively short time: 1–3 hours, depending on how it is processed. However, when you combine it with casein, the supply of amino acids to your tissues is significantly extended to as long as 4 hours. That is precisely the point. That is why we have combined 4 carefully selected milk proteins in one product. Here is the result:

  1. Whey protein hydrolysate (WPH): The fastest start to protein synthesis

This is a special type of whey protein that enzymes deliberately break down during production into short peptide chains of amino acids. As a result, it is absorbed extremely quickly, making amino acids available in the blood almost immediately. It was an obvious choice because it provides an ideal stimulus for initiating muscle protein synthesis.

  2. Whey protein isolate (WPI): Pure, fast-absorbing whey without compromise

During production, it undergoes several types of filtration (microfiltration and ultrafiltration), which remove most of the milk fat and lactose. There is nothing wrong with either, but the result is a very pure, fast-absorbing protein source with an excellent amino acid profile rich in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), including essential leucine.

  3. Whey protein concentrate (WPC): A reliable choice

It makes up the largest proportion of Protein Fusion. It is produced using the gentle CFM method (cross-flow microfiltration), in which microfiltration takes place at low temperatures. This helps it retain naturally occurring bioactive proteins such as beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin and immunoglobulins. WPC is still considered a fast-absorbing protein source and stands out among whey proteins for its pleasantly milky taste and creamy consistency.

  4. Calcium caseinate: The fourth member of the team, providing slow and gradual release

Casein is the other main protein in cow’s milk, accounting for roughly 80% of all milk proteins. For this blend, we chose calcium caseinate, a form that dissolves well and does not form lumps. It is digested considerably more slowly than whey, making it the slowest-absorbing component in the blend. It releases amino acids gradually, long after the whey has done its job. It is an anti-catabolic guardian of your muscles, particularly useful during longer intervals between meals.

As an added bonus, enriched with DigeZyme® enzymes and the Bacillus coagulans LactoSpore® bacterial culture.

DigeZyme® is a patented multi-enzyme complex from Sabinsa. It contains 5 enzymes that help digest the main components of food.

  • alpha-amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates in the form of starches
  • protease, which breaks down proteins
  • lactase, which breaks down the milk sugar lactose
  • lipase, which breaks down fats
  • cellulase, which breaks down fiber in the form of cellulose

One serving (30 g) of protein contains 80 mg of the DigeZyme® enzyme complex.

LactoSpore® is a patented ingredient from Sabinsa containing the bacterium Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 (now classified as Heyndrickxia coagulans). The bacteria are present in spore form, which significantly increases their viability and stability in the product.

One serving (30 g) contains 1 billion CFU (colony-forming units).

As an added bonus, enriched with DigeZyme® enzymes and the Bacillus coagulans LactoSpore® bacterial culture.
Why might a multi-source protein be better than a single-source protein?

Whey protein alone rapidly increases the level of amino acids in the blood after consumption, but that level then quickly returns to baseline. This is excellent immediately after training, but several hours later, the stimulation of muscle protein synthesis is considerably weaker.

Protein Fusion works differently. It combines fast- and slow-digesting proteins, so amino acids are released into the bloodstream gradually. Their level therefore remains high enough to stimulate muscle protein synthesis for longer. What is the result?

  • Immediate anabolic stimulus: Whey hydrolysate and isolate initiate muscle protein synthesis almost immediately.
  • Strong intermediate phase: Whey concentrate, the most abundant ingredient in the blend, maintains a steady supply of amino acids.
  • Longer-lasting anti-catabolic protection: Calcium caseinate takes over from whey concentrate, continuing to maintain elevated amino acid levels in the blood.

A similar principle was also confirmed by studies by Reidy (2013)1 and Kanda (2016)2. The Reidy (2013)1 study compared whey protein alone with a blend of proteins absorbed at different rates (whey, casein, soy). The blend was able to maintain elevated amino acid levels in the blood for longer and supported muscle protein synthesis at least as effectively as whey alone.

Why might a multi-source protein be better than a single-source protein?

Who is Protein Fusion suitable for?

1. Strength athletes and gym-goers who want to maximize muscle hypertrophy and give their bodies the best support after training and between main meals. Muscles cannot grow without protein. For this goal, scientific studies recommend a daily intake of 1.6–2.2 g of protein per kilogram of body weight.3

2. Athletes with demanding training or competition schedules, whether in CrossFit and HYROX, team sports such as hockey and football, or endurance sports such as cycling and running. When training volume and frequency are high, adequate protein intake is essential to protect muscles and support their recovery. Athletes are generally advised to consume 1.2–2.0 g of protein per kilogram of body weight.4 Physical activity also places demands on the musculoskeletal system. It is therefore useful to know that protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.5

3. People following a weight-loss diet or using GLP-1 medications. A weight-loss diet carries the risk of reduced intake of a range of essential nutrients, including protein. Reduced energy intake can lead to muscle loss, and one way to help prevent it is to increase your intake of high-quality protein. Protein also contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.5

4. People aged 65 and over. So-called anabolic resistance increases with age, and the body generally becomes less able to use dietary protein to rebuild muscle. A high-quality protein blend is therefore an ideal choice for older athletes and active seniors who want to build and maintain muscle mass. According to the latest studies, they need at least 1.0–1.2 g of protein per kilogram of body weight6, significantly more than the commonly recommended 0.83 g of protein per kilogram of body weight for adults.7

5. Women seeking a firmer physique. Protein certainly will not make you look overly muscular. Instead, it provides your body with essential building blocks for a firm, toned physique. By promoting satiety, it can also help you manage cravings for sweets.

6. Anyone who wants a convenient way to meet their daily protein needs. Enjoy it as a tasty shake with water or milk, or add it to porridge, smoothies or pancake batter. These foods are typically high in carbohydrates and contain relatively little protein, so adding protein makes for a more complete, balanced meal while conveniently increasing your protein intake.
