Job's Tears – Coix Seed is a gluten-free cereal with protein, fibre and a mild flavour that you'll love in both sweet and savoury dishes

Job's Tears - Coix Seed is a naturally gluten-free cereal with a mildly sweet, nutty flavour. It is a great alternative to rice, buckwheat or groats, for example. You might also know it as Chinese Pearl Barley, Adlay Millet, or simply Coix seed. It also boasts the name White Pearl of the East, as it originates from Asia and has a long history of use in traditional Eastern cultures.

This unique grain will be especially appreciated for its rich proportion of complex carbohydrates. But it is also a good source of fibre and protein. Thanks to protein, it promotes growth and maintenance of muscle mass while helping to maintain healthy bones. In addition, it is also low in sugars, saturated fatty acids and non-GMO.

Coix seed is sure to be a must-have in your kitchen. It is advisable to soak it in water for about 30 minutes before preparation, then boil it for about an hour, and once cooked, you can start experimenting. This cereal can be used as a side dish with meat or its vegetable alternatives. You can also add it to soups, and it's great in savouries, meatballs, pancakes or salads. You can even blend the job's tears and use it as gluten-free flour to thicken sauces or soups.

You can also use it when you have a sweet tooth. You can use it to make a delicious cereal porridge or a sweet pudding. You can use the flour from the Coix seed in cakes or, for example, in pancakes. There is no limit to your imagination, and if you are looking for a new, versatile food that will add both nutrients and variety to your diet, Coix seed is the right choice.
