Hooks serve to improve your grip on the barbell when lifting heavy weights. Fasten them to your hands using a Velcro strip and place them so as to grasp the bar. This partially relieves your forearm when performing pulling exercises such as dead lift. The hooks will help you increase your load and perform more repetitions. They are commonly used for training among body builders, as well as weightlifters and powerlifters.
