Essential Microbiome is 2v1 a postbiotic with pasteurized bacteria Akkermansia and tributyrin. Both substances target the gut and work without live cultures. Essential Microbiome combines two longevity compounds focused on the gut, pasteurized bacterium Akkermansia and tributyrin. Unlike probiotics, it does not contain live cultures. Both substances function as a postbiotic, i.e. a non-living form of bacteria or their components and metabolites. Simply put, a probiotic contains live bacteria, a prebiotic feeds them, and a postbiotic delivers directly what they produce, namely the end products of their metabolism. Therefore, they do not need to survive the journey through the digestive system or colonize the gut. The product is tested by an independent laboratory for heavy metals. One plant-based capsule free of gelatin and allergens contains 50 mg of pasteurized Akkermansia muciniphila, equivalent to 10 billion cells, and 300 mg of tributyrin (butyrate triglycerides). The cell count is stated in TFU units, meaning the total count determined by flow cytometry. CFU is not used for a pasteurized product because the cells are not alive.
