Beluga Lentils are a unique legume with a high protein and fibre content that can be used in soups, salads and as a garnish when serving

Beluga Lentils are a unique type of legume that at first glance resembles caviar. This is why it has earned the nickname "vegetarian caviar". It is distinguished by its nutty flavour and impressive dark colour, which is imparted by natural pigments similar to those found in blackberries or blueberries. It contains complex carbohydrates and a high amount of plant proteins. Specifically, it contains 23 g of protein/100 g, which supports the growth and maintenance of muscle, as well as the maintenance of healthy bones. It also boasts a high fibre content of 17 g/100 g, is low in fat, saturated fatty acids, and sugar. This makes it a great food for the diet of all healthy lifestyle enthusiasts, which is also appreciated by vegetarians and vegans.

Interestingly, its tiny, shiny grains do not disintegrate after cooking and retain their shape and consistency. Thanks to its firm skin, it is slightly crispy when cooked and does not turn to mush like some other types of lentils. Therefore, it is an ideal ingredient for people who not only like the taste, but also the appearance of their food. What's more, you'll also love Beluga lentils for their quick preparation. They take about 25-30 minutes to cook, and as long as you soak them in advance, they'll be ready in 10 minutes.

Black lentils are great in fresh salads, thick soups or as a nutritious side dish with meat. It is also very combinable. It goes perfectly with vegetables and also fits with the taste of pears, apples or walnuts. Also tastes great with seaweed and bold herbs. Thanks to its luxurious appearance, you can also use it as a decoration when serving. Black lentils can also be pickled to add an extra nutritional dimension.

This unique type of legume thus combines delicious flavour, high nutritional value, aesthetics and can turn a meal into a gourmet experience.
