Zinc – an essential mineral with laboratory-verified purity 99,9 % for immunity, cognitive function and hormonal balance

One Zinc tablet from GymBeam provides 15 mg of zinc with an active substance purity of at least 99,9 %, corresponding to 150 % of the reference intake value.¹ Zinc is involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the body, although the body only needs it in trace amounts. It is one of the minerals the body cannot produce on its own, so it needs to be regularly replenished through diet or supplementation.

What does zinc do in the body?

Zinc contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system, which acts as our body's protective shield, and men will also appreciate its role in maintaining normal testosterone levels in the blood. This is also related to zinc's role in fertility and normal reproductive function in both women and men.¹

It may also appeal to students, people working at computers or anyone who spends a lot of time in front of a screen, as it contributes to normal cognitive function, such as memory, concentration and attention, while also helping maintain good vision, as it is the most abundant mineral in the retina.¹

Zinc also contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.¹ A meta-analysis of 25 clinical studies in adults confirmed that zinc supplementation statistically significantly reduces levels of the CRP and IL-6 markers as well as the oxidative stress marker MDA, while increasing the body's total antioxidant capacity (TAC).²

In addition, zinc contributes to the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and vitamin A, and helps maintain normal acid-base balance in the body. It is also involved in the process of cell division and protein synthesis, the fundamental building material of muscles and other tissues.¹

What makes GymBeam Zinc different from ordinary products?

For dietary supplements, the safety and transparency of the entire process, from selecting the raw material to the final tablet, play a key role. Here are 4 points that make GymBeam different:

1. Zinc has a laboratory-verified purity of at least 99,9 %.

2. We manufacture the tablets in-house in Slovakia in a facility with ISO 9001 certification and a HACCP system.

3. GymBeam Zinc undergoes independent laboratory testing for active substance content, heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic) and microbiological safety (salmonella, E. coli, yeasts and moulds, coliform bacteria).

4. The product is completely GMO-free.

What makes GymBeam Zinc different from ordinary products?
Who is zinc suitable for?

Athletes and physically active individuals who want to support immune system function as part of their training routine.

People under high mental strain, such as students or people in managerial positions, who want to support memory and concentration.

Vegans and vegetarians, whose absorption of zinc from plant-based diets tends to be lower than from animal sources.

Women who are interested in zinc supplementation before menstruation.

Men who want to support normal testosterone levels in the blood.

Who is zinc suitable for?

When should you take zinc?

Take 1 tablet daily, ideally with a meal and plenty of water. Food helps prevent potential stomach irritation that may occur in more sensitive individuals when taken on an empty stomach.

Taking zinc together with other minerals and medications

Calcium and iron may reduce zinc absorption when taken at the same time in higher doses, as these minerals compete for the same transport pathways in the intestine. If you take separate supplements of these minerals in higher doses, maintain an interval of approximately two hours.

Similar caution applies to tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, with which zinc may form complexes that reduce their absorption.⁵ The recommended interval is at least two hours before taking them or four to six hours afterwards. If you take any regular medication, consult a doctor or pharmacist before supplementing with zinc.

Long-term zinc intake

Zinc is a common component of the diet that the body needs long term for hundreds of biochemical processes, so there is no need to discontinue or cycle it, but it is important to take it consistently and regularly over the long term.

Composition and dosage

Composition

Bulking agent (microcrystalline cellulose), zinc oxide, anti-caking agent (magnesium stearate).

Dosage

According to European standards (EFSA), the recommended daily intake of zinc ranges between 7,5–12,7 mg for women and 9,4–16,3 mg for men. You can easily supplement this amount with 1 GymBeam zinc tablet.

The appropriate zinc dosage also depends on the amount of phytates in your diet. Phytates are antinutritional substances that reduce zinc absorption and are found mainly in whole grains, legumes and vegetables. If your diet is rich in these foods, you will also need to increase your zinc intake.

One zinc tablet provides 15 mg, which is 150 % of the nutrient reference value (NRV).⁴

Zinc oxide is indeed not the best choice. In the case of zinc, we recommend investing at least in zinc chelate (from GymBeam).
