Palatinose - a slow carbohydrate for athletes who need it before, during and after training
Palatinose is a slow carbohydrate also known as isomaltulose. The carbohydrate itself contributes to the recovery of normal muscle function after high-intensity or prolonged physical exercise that results in muscle fatigue and depletion of glycogen stores in skeletal muscle. However, the condition is the consumption of carbohydrates in the amount of 4g/kg body weight in doses administered within the first four hours after such exercise and no later than six hours after the exercise.
Palatinose is thus appreciated by athletes who need to replenish energy during or after exercise. Examples are people engaged in endurance activities such as running, cycling or swimming. Its sweet taste, however, also serves well as an alternative to sugar. It has a crystalline structure and white colour, making it resemble white sugar. As with sugar (sucrose), it is a disaccharide, which is composed of glucose and fructose.
It is also suitable for classically sweetening popular desserts, cakes, pancakes, but also drinks such as coffee, tea or smoothies. Another interesting benefit is that eating foods containing isomaltulose instead of sugar contributes to the maintenance of tooth mineralisation. Palatinose is thus a versatile supplement for athletes, which will not be lost in your kitchen. Moreover, it is also suitable for vegans.
