Recommended daily dose of magnesium
- According to the European standard (EFSA), the recommended daily intake of magnesium is 350 mg for men and 300 mg for women.³
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women have a slightly increased requirement; we recommend consulting a doctor regarding the specific dose.
- Athletes and people under high physical or mental strain have an estimated requirement of 10 to 20 % higher than people with low physical activity, due to magnesium losses through sweat. This corresponds to approximately 385–420 mg daily for men and 330–360 mg daily for women.⁶
- 3 capsules of chelated magnesium (bisglycinate) provide 225 mg of elemental magnesium, i.e. 60 % of the reference intake value. Depending on your physical activity and total dietary magnesium intake you can adjust the dose as needed.
