Oblik genetske modifikacije postoji od davnina, a naziva se<strong> selektivni uzgoj.<\/strong> Iako na\u0161i preci nisu izravno manipulirali DNK biljaka ili \u017eivotinja, koristili su se umjetnom selekcijom za stvaranje usjeva i sojeva sposobnih prehraniti stalno rastu\u0107u globalnu populaciju. Cvjeta\u010da, brokula i kupus su sve varijacije iste biljke, koje se uzgajaju kako bi se pobolj\u0161ala odre\u0111ena svojstva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Definiranje_GMO-a\"><\/span>Definiranje GMO-a<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dakle, \u0161to je zapravo GMO? Genetski modificirani organizam je svaki organizam u kojem je genetski materijal namjerno izmijenjen. Teoretski, ovo bi se moglo primijeniti na <strong>bilo \u0161to \u017eivu\u0107e,<\/strong> jer sav \u017eivot na Zemlji sadr\u017ei genetske informacije kodirane u <strong>DNK<\/strong>, <strong>koje se mogu modificirati.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1124\" height=\"749\" src=\"https:\/\/gymbeam.sk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/foto-clanek-10.png\" alt=\"Molekularna biologija i genetika\" class=\"wp-image-641363\" title=\"Molekularna biologija i genetika\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gymbeam.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/foto-clanek-10.png 1124w, https:\/\/gymbeam.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/foto-clanek-10-400x267.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1124px) 100vw, 1124px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Proces modifikacije DNK <strong>razlikuje se<\/strong> ovisno o organizmu. Za jednostavne jednostani\u010dne organizme kao \u0161to su <strong>bakterije ili kvasci<\/strong>, mijenjanje DNK je <strong>relativno<\/strong> jednostavno. Te je organizme lak\u0161e modificirati, \u0161to nam omogu\u0107uje u\u010dinkovitu promjenu njihovih karakteristika. Me\u0111utim, unato\u010d izrazu &#8220;jednostavno&#8221;, modificiranje bilo koje DNK, uklju\u010duju\u0107i jednostani\u010dne organizme, zahtijeva <strong>\u0161irok raspon molekularne biologije i genetskih tehnika<\/strong> kojima vlada samo odabrana skupina ljudi diljem svijeta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Za vi\u0161estani\u010dne organizme kao \u0161to su biljke i \u017eivotinje, proces postaje znatno <strong>slo\u017eeniji.<\/strong> Ti se organizmi sastoje od razli\u010ditih vrsta stanica koje tvore razli\u010dita tkiva (ili, u slu\u010daju biljaka, strukture koje se nazivaju meristemi), \u0161to <strong>onemogu\u0107uje<\/strong> jednostavno ure\u0111ivanje njihovog genetskog materijala bez utjecaja na DNK u ne\u017eeljenim podru\u010djima. <strong>Nepoznati geni ili funkcije gena<\/strong> dodatno kompliciraju stvari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>GMO-i se ve\u0107 <strong>desetlje\u0107ima<\/strong> koriste u znanosti i istra\u017eivanju. Naprimjer, genetski modificirani mi\u0161evi s umjetno izazvanim mutacijama nezamjenjivi su u prou\u010davanju ljudskih bolesti poput raka i dijabetesa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Prvi_GMO_spasio_je_milijune_zivota\"><\/span>Prvi GMO spasio je milijune \u017eivota<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prvi komercijalno kori\u0161teni GMO bila je crijevna bakterija E. coli, koja je postala <strong>model organizma<\/strong> za molekularnu biologiju 1960-ih i 1970-ih. \u010cesto nazivana &#8220;pokreta\u010dkom snagom molekularne biologije&#8221;, ova je bakterija pomogla znanstvenicima da razumiju kako se replikacija DNK odvija i kako nastaju proteini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Godine 1978., nakon \u0161to su istra\u017eiva\u010di razvili tehnike za modificiranje DNK <em>E. coli<\/em>, pojavila se ideja za proizvodnju<strong> ljudskog inzulina <\/strong>kori\u0161tenjem tih modificiranih bakterija. Prije ovog otkri\u0107a, inzulin se dobivao iz \u017eivotinjskih gu\u0161tera\u010da, \u0161to je zahtijevalo<strong> dvije tone <\/strong>tkiva gu\u0161tera\u010de za proizvodnju samo <strong>200 grama inzulina <\/strong>za dijabeti\u010dare. Druga klju\u010dna motivacija je <strong>pove\u0107anje hranjive vrijednosti<\/strong> usjeva, osiguravaju\u0107i kvalitetnu hranu za one koji \u017eive u siroma\u0161nim regijama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prva genetski modificirana biljka razvijena za ljudsku prehranu bila je raj\u010dica &#8220;<strong>Flavr Savr<\/strong>&#8220;, koja je bila otpornija na truljenje, \u0161to joj je omogu\u0107ilo transport na ve\u0107e udaljenosti bez kvarenja. Me\u0111utim, ovaj proizvod vi\u0161e nije na tr\u017ei\u0161tu.<mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><sup><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[2]<\/span><\/sup><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Zna\u010dajna pri\u010da o uspjehu je <strong>&#8220;Zlatna ri\u017ea&#8221;,<\/strong> genetski modificirana kultura stvorena za proizvodnju vi\u0161ih razina <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/gymbeam.hr\/beta-karoten-gymbeam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">beta-karotena<\/a>, bitnog prekursora vitamina A. Ova je ri\u017ea razvijena za borbu protiv <strong>nedostatka<\/strong> <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/gymbeam.hr\/vitamin-a-retinol-gymbeam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\"><strong>vitamina A<\/strong><\/a> u zemljama u razvoju. <sup><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[3]<\/span><\/mark><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kukuruz<\/strong> je trenuta\u010dno najrasprostranjeniji GM usjev u svijetu. Koristi se ne samo za proizvodnju hrane za ljude, ve\u0107 i kao <strong>sto\u010dna hrana<\/strong>. Unutar Europske unije odobreno je 58 genetski modificiranih usjeva, iako se uzgaja samo GM kukuruz, i to u vrlo malom opsegu. Me\u0111utim, EU uvozi genetski modificiranu sto\u010dnu hranu. Nasuprot tome, GMO se intenzivno uzgaja u Sjedinjenim Dr\u017eavama, gdje su tro\u0161kovi proizvodnje ni\u017ei, a prinosi ve\u0107i. Ovo nagla\u0161ava potrebu za maksimiziranjem poljoprivredne proizvodnje kao odgovor na klimatske promjene, pojavu novih patogena i \u0161tetnika koji napadaju usjeve. <strong>Naprimjer, od 2024. u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu ne uzgajaju se GM usjevi. <\/strong><sup><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[4]<\/span><\/mark><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Naj\u010de\u0161\u0107e genetske modifikacije usjeva su otpornost na <strong>herbicide i endogena proizvodnja insekticida.<\/strong> Otpornost na herbicide omogu\u0107uje usjevima da napreduju \u010dak i kada se primjenjuju kemikalije koje ubijaju korov, \u0161to rezultira ve\u0107im prinosima. Izmjena DNK<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Jedan od najve\u0107ih strahova javnosti je da bi <strong>konzumacija GMO-a mogla na neki na\u010din promijeniti na\u0161 vlastiti DNK. Me\u0111utim, to nije mogu\u0107e.<\/strong> Nakon \u0161to se DNK organizma modificira, ostaje nepromijenjen, a alati kori\u0161teni za modifikaciju nedostaju u kona\u010dnom proizvodu. Osim toga, genetski materijal GM usjeva <strong>ne mo\u017ee se ni na koji na\u010din integrirati<\/strong> u ljudsku DNK. Princip ostaje isti \u2014 bez obzira na to je li usjev genetski modificiran ili ne, njegov se DNK pona\u0161a identi\u010dno. Prolazi kroz probavni sustav, gdje se<strong> razgra\u0111uje<\/strong> u osnovne gradivne blokove, poput oligonukleotida, koji se mogu prenamijeniti u tijelu. <sup><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[5]<\/span><\/mark><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Cry i Bt proteini<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Manje poznati rizik od GM usjeva je prisutnost <strong>Cry i Bt proteina,<\/strong> dizajniranih <strong>posebno za ciljanje insekata<\/strong> koji napadaju usjeve. Nedavni podaci, me\u0111utim, sugeriraju da ti proteini mogu izazvati <strong>upalne reakcije<\/strong> i promjene u unutarnjim organima kod stoke hranjene GM kukuruzom i sojom. <sup><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[6]<\/span><\/mark><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Agresivni sprejevi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Drugu zna\u010dajnu zabrinutost uzrokuje <strong>uporaba agresivnih herbicida<\/strong> na koje su GM usjevi otporni. Ovi sprejevi su dizajnirani za uklanjanje ne\u017eeljenih biljaka na poljima. Naj\u010de\u0161\u0107i herbicid je Monsantov<strong> Roundup <\/strong>koji sadr\u017ei<strong> glifosat. <\/strong>Preostali glifosat u kona\u010dnom proizvodu povezan je s pove\u0107anim rizikom od <strong>raka. <\/strong><sup><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[7]<\/span><\/mark><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vrijedno je jo\u0161 jednom napomenuti da se u Velikoj Britaniji <strong>ne uzgajaju<\/strong> GM usjevi otporni na herbicide i pesticide. Me\u0111utim, GM kukuruz se uvozi za sto\u010dnu hranu. U EU se trenutno uzgaja samo jedan GM usjev \u2013 kukuruz MON 810, i to u ograni\u010denim koli\u010dinama.. <sup><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-orange-color\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[8]<\/span><\/mark><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>GM usjevi razvijeni za <strong>pove\u0107anje prehrambene vrijednosti,<\/strong> kao \u0161to je Zlatna ri\u017ea, koja ne uklju\u010duje modifikacije za otpornost na \u0161teto\u010dine, teoretski je <strong>malo vjerojatno da \u0107e imati negativne u\u010dinke<\/strong> na ljudsko zdravlje. Klju\u010dna uloga u znanosti i istra\u017eivanju<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Najzna\u010dajnija dobrobit GMO-a je njihova<strong> neizostavna uloga<\/strong> u istra\u017eivanju.
