Let&#8217;s face it. The truth is that fat mass cannot be converted into muscle. Really not! Fat is formed by triglycerides, and muscle consists of myofibrils, which unlike fat, contain smaller units called <strong>contractile proteins<\/strong> (<em>actin and myosin<\/em>) and <strong>nitrogen<\/strong> (<em>active during muscle contraction<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply put, fats and muscles are <strong>very different bioactive compounds<\/strong> and, therefore, do not have the ability to change from one to another. However, the possibility of converting fat to muscle raises another important question: <strong>Is it possible to burn fat and gain muscle simultaneously<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpstatic.gymbeam.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mageblog\/iStock-617569618.jpg\" alt=\"Is it really possible to turn fat mass into muscle? \" width=\"843\" height=\"562\" title=\"Is it really possible to turn fat mass into muscle? \"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It is ideal to focus on one or the other because <strong>they are completely the opposite<\/strong>. Fat burning is advantageous in the <strong>catabolic state<\/strong> in a caloric deficit (<em>burn more calories than eat<\/em>). On the other hand, muscle building is optimised in the <strong>anabolic state<\/strong>, that is when the body receives more calories (<em>mainly in the form of protein<\/em>) than burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on these facts, it seems impossible to burn fat and gain muscle at the same time. But the good news is that this can happen, but it requires a lot of effort and specific circumstances. It is because you <strong>have more body fat<\/strong> and your body has this way <strong>more energy resources<\/strong> (from fats). So your body <strong>will not be decomposing muscle <a title=\"Amino Acids\" href=\"https:\/\/gymbeam.com\/amino-acids\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"ek-link\">amino acids<\/a>.<\/strong> The reason why you see quick results is that you are not training regularly and your body is not used to the movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Such a scenario <strong>can create the illusion of converting fat into muscle<\/strong>, but the fact is that one <strong>burns fats and creates muscles in their place<\/strong>. However, it is way more complicated for athletes or people who train regularly, because they <strong>will see the results in a long time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Probably the best strategy is, in addition to weight lifting, a calorie deficit (250 &#8211; 350 kcal) and <strong>maintaining your <a title=\"Protein GymBeam\" href=\"https:\/\/gymbeam.com\/protein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"ek-link\">protein<\/a> intake of 1.5 g per 1 kg of body weight<\/strong> per day. Without it, even in a calorie deficit or excess, <strong>no muscle will be created<\/strong>. Some athletes may want different <strong>carbohydrate cycling<\/strong>.
