About <strong>10%<\/strong> of them are found in the <strong>human diet<\/strong>, while&nbsp;<strong>about 20 carotenoids<\/strong>&nbsp;were found in<strong> mammalian plasma and tissues. Major<\/strong> plasma carotenoids include<strong> beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene,<\/strong> or<strong> alpha-carotene<\/strong>. The name beta-carotene comes from the combination of<strong> the Greek word \u201cbeta\u201d and the Latin \u201ccarota\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong>(carrot). <strong>H. Carotenoids<\/strong> are a natural <strong>part of plants,<\/strong> but you can also find them in the form of <strong>supplements.<\/strong> <strong>Beta-carotene,<\/strong> unlike vitamin A, <strong>is not an essential nutrient<\/strong>. In any case, it can be argued that <strong>dietary carotenoids<\/strong> have<strong> a positive effect,<\/strong> but not at<strong> high doses<\/strong> in people exposed to<strong> asbestos and smokers.<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"tadv-color\" style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[16]<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Beta-carotene and vision<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have already talked about the legend associated with carrots and good eyesight. <strong>The effects of beta-carotene<\/strong> on<strong> eye health<\/strong> have been the subject of<strong> several studies.<\/strong> The 2016 study concludes that<strong> increased carotenoid intake reduces the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).<\/strong> In addition, the results of the 2017 study point to the fact that <strong>higher intake of vegetables and fruits<\/strong> containing not only&nbsp;<strong>beta-carotene,<\/strong> but also <strong>alpha carotene and vitamin C<\/strong>, may also have <strong>a protective effect against AMD in smokers.<\/strong> AMD is an abbreviation for an eye disease that causes <strong>blurred vision,<\/strong> for example when reading. If you don&#8217;t know it, be happy, <strong>10 to 15% of the Nordic population<\/strong> has problems with this type of allergy.&nbsp;<span class=\"tadv-color\" style=\"color: #ff6600;\">[10] [11]&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>What does beta carotene have to do with sun allergies? The human body can <strong>protect<\/strong> itself from the effects of <strong>UV rays<\/strong> from the sun with its <strong>pigment,<\/strong> called <strong>melanin<\/strong>. In addition to a beautiful tan, melanin also has <strong>a protective function.<\/strong> <strong>\u201cThe bronze pigment\u201d<\/strong> <strong>protects the skin from harmful parts<\/strong> in the sun&#8217;s rays.
