Aproximativ&nbsp;<strong>10%<\/strong>&nbsp;dintre ace\u0219tia se g\u0103sesc \u00een&nbsp;<strong>alimenta\u021bie&nbsp;<\/strong>\u0219i&nbsp;<strong>aproximativ 20 de carotenoizi<\/strong>&nbsp;au fost g\u0103si\u021bi \u00een&nbsp;<strong>plasm\u0103 \u0219i \u00een \u021besuturile mamiferelor.<\/strong>&nbsp;Carotenoizii plasmatici&nbsp;<strong>principali<\/strong>&nbsp;includ&nbsp;<strong>beta-carotenul, luteina, licopenul<\/strong>&nbsp;sau&nbsp;<strong>alfacarotenul<\/strong>. Denumirea de beta-caroten provine din combina\u021bia&nbsp;<strong>cuv\u00e2ntului grecesc \u201ebeta\u201d \u0219i a cuv\u00e2ntului latin \u201ecarota\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(morcov). Aceast\u0103 denumire fost dat\u0103 de&nbsp;<strong>H. Wachenroder<\/strong>, care l-a&nbsp;<strong>izolat<\/strong>&nbsp;pentru prima dat\u0103&nbsp;<strong>din morcovi<\/strong>&nbsp;\u00een&nbsp;<strong>1831<\/strong>. Beta-carotenul a fost izolat \u00eenc\u0103 \u00een secolul al XIX-lea, dar&nbsp;<strong>formula sa chimic\u0103 \u2013 C<sub>40<\/sub>H<sub>56<\/sub><\/strong>&nbsp;a fost descoperit\u0103 pu\u021bin mai t\u00e2rziu&nbsp;<strong>\u00een anul 1907<\/strong>. Este un&nbsp;<strong>precursor al vitaminei A<\/strong>, care are dou\u0103 forme \u00een corpul uman&nbsp;<span style=\"color:#ff6600\" class=\"tadv-color\">[4] [6]<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><p><strong>forma dietar\u0103 a vitaminei A <\/strong>( retinol \u015fi esteri de retinil)<\/p><\/li><li><p><strong>provitamina A<\/strong> (carotenoizi, de exemplu beta-caroten)<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamina A este un&nbsp;<strong>micronutrient<\/strong>&nbsp;important deoarece sus\u021bine&nbsp;<strong>s\u0103n\u0103tatea ochilor \u0219i a vederii, a sistemului imunitar<\/strong>, dar \u0219i o&nbsp;<strong>piele s\u0103n\u0103toas\u0103<\/strong>. Un studiu din anul 2016 concluzioneaz\u0103 c\u0103&nbsp;<strong>aportul crescut de carotenoizi reduce riscul degenerescen\u021bei macularelegate de v\u00e2rst\u0103<\/strong>&nbsp;(age-related macular degeneration \u2013&nbsp;<strong>AMD<\/strong>). \u00cen plus, rezultatele studiului din 2017 indic\u0103 faptul c\u0103&nbsp;<strong>aportul mai mare de legume \u0219i fructe,<\/strong>&nbsp;care con\u021bin&nbsp;<strong>beta-caroten,<\/strong>&nbsp;dar \u0219i&nbsp;<strong>alfa-caroten \u0219i vitamina C<\/strong>, pot avea, de asemenea, un&nbsp;<strong>efect protector \u00eempotriva AMD la fum\u0103tori.<\/strong>&nbsp;AMD este o abreviere pentru boala ochilor, care provoac\u0103&nbsp;<strong>vederea \u00eence\u021bo\u0219at\u0103<\/strong>, de exemplu \u00een timpul cititului.
